Many of the world's problems and conflicts arise because we have lost sight of the basic humanity that binds us together as a human family. Today we are so interdependent that without a sense of universal responsibility we cannot hope to overcome the dangers to our very existence, let alone bring about peace and happiness. Therefore, a universal humanitarian approach to global problems seems to hold the only hope for peace to succeed.How do we set about this? We can begin with the recognition that irrespective of their creed, colour,sex,or nationality everyone else's wants are the same as our own. Every being wants happiness and does not wants suffering.

The anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima reminds us of the horrifying nature of nuclear destruction. It is instant, total and irreversible, Like our neglect and abuse of the natural environment,it has the potential to affect the rights, not only of many defenseless people living now in various parts of the world, but also those of future generations.

Our ancestors saw the earth as rich and bountiful and respected it as such. We too need to restore a proper altitude, for the earth is our home. We must appreciate that nature can only sustain and shelter us all if we circ foot it. At a time of concern for increasing democratic freedoms and human rights it is contradictory that many governments continue to pursue policies that tease little account of every living being's simple right

Faced with the challenge of establishing genuine world peace and preserving the bountiful earth, what can we do? Beautiful words are no longer enough. We should instead embark on the difficult task of building an attitude of love and compassion within ourselves. Compassion is, by nature, peaceful and gentle but it is also very powerful. Same may dismiss it as Impractical and weak but I believe its practice is the true source Or success and power. It is a sign of true strength.To achieve it, we do not need to become religious, nor do we need on ideology. All that it necessary is for us is develop our begin human qualities.

I send my greetings and best washed for the success of the Gaia Network and pray that it may serve as an inspiration to others to live in harmonious coexistence so that the welfare of all sentient being can be achieved.

今日、世界中に継続している争いや問題のほとんどは、根源的な人間性の見方を失ってしまっていることから生まれています。それは、私たちが本来ひとつの人間の家族（human family)として結ばれているという見方です。今日、私たちは全地球的な規模で互いに深く依存しあっており、私たち一人ひとりが全地球的な視野を持って問題の解決に取り組まない限り全人類の生存も個人の平和も幸福も到達できない事態にきているのです。それでは何から始めれば良いのでしょうか。私は、まず、世界のすべての人々が、人種、国家、思想、性の違いを超えて自分と同じように望んでいるのだという単純な事実の再確認から始めるべきだと思います。すべての人々は幸せになることを望み、苦しみを望んではいないのです。

8月6日広島原爆投下の日は、いつも私たちに、恐るべき破壊力のことを思い出させてくれます。それは、一瞬にして、すべてを取り返しのつかないほどに破壊し尽くしてしまいました。今、私達が地球の自然環境に対して行っている破壊や虐待もまた、地球のさまざまな場所に生きているか弱い人々や未来の世代に対して同じことを行っているかもしれないのです。

私たちの祖先はこの地球が与えてくれる豊かな恵みと愛に対し常に尊厳と感謝を忘れませんでした。今こそ私たちもまた地球こそわが故郷ということを思い出すべき時代です。しかし世界の多くの政府や国家は、まだまだ、この一人一人の人間の小さいけれど、最も大切な権利について敏感ではありません。

豊かな地球環境を守り、真の平和を築いてゆくために、今、私たち一人ひとりに何ができるのでしょうか。また何をなすべきなのでしょうか。美しい言葉を並べるだけでは十分ではありません。今こそ私たちは人間の真の特権である愛と慈悲の精神を生活の中で実践していくという困難な仕事に取り組んでゆく必要があります。慈愛の精神は、もともと、平和で穏和なものですが同時に最も力強いものです。慈愛の精神などというものは、非現実的で弱いものだと思う人もあるかもしれませんが、私は、この慈愛の精神の実践こそが、真の成功と力の源であると強く信じています。これこそ、内なる力の現れなのです。宗教や、イデオロギーにこだわる必要はありません。われわれ人間がもともと持っている人間性を開放し進歩させればよいのです。
